I've always had a hair fetish since I was little. I used to twirl it, rub it against my face, and occasionally put it in my mouth. Yum. I know. Let's be honest... people do a lot stranger things. I still play with my hair a lot even to this day, and turns out, this hair fetish seems to have transferred to Hazel. James and I say she's in the zone when she has a paci in and starts twirling her hair. It's mostly in the car or at sleepy time. It's her comfort thing and it's pretty darn cute. What's not cute is the huge knot that results from the twirling. It is near impossible to get some of them out. I bought detangler and used some of my leave-in conditioner to fix some of the more stubborn knots. We've even had to cut 2 of them out, which made me verrry sad. Luckily the knots were very small by the time we cut them. Just yesterday, Hazel saw how sad it made me when James cut her hair. She had me pick her up, started talking to me in a sweet baby jabber, wiped my cheeks (as if there were tears), and gave me long hugs. It was the sweetest little moment. Sometimes I wonder if she cares when I'm sad or hurt because mostly she thinks I'm being funny, but it's good to know she really can tell when something upsets me. What a little sweetheart.
Here's proof of the knot:

Seriously... what am I supposed to do with that?!

Maren's little Isabella, who is now 21 months old, does the same thing. I think you and Maren are twins. Maren still to this day twirls her hair. Isabella does it, too. Braydon used to play with Maren's hair when he was little and tired. You truly do have a little sweetheart in your family.
So sweet! Glad you recorded this!
Hazel is an overachiever! Best knot EVER!!
