Hazel is in Kindergarten!

I'm glad Hazel is older for her grade and that she was excited about starting Kindergarten!  It made it easier to send her off.  The night before, she helped me make her first lunch.  She was so proud that it was healthy and yummy.

Here she is on her first day!
August 22, 2016 at Tibbals Elementary

It's such a crazy feeling as a mom because you realize you no longer can watch over your kid every minute of the day.  They'll be making 100s of decisions a day without you, and you hope you've taught them well!  I have a feeling Hazel will make us proud no matter what.  She's sweet, helpful, smart, fun, and anxious to learn -- the perfect student and friend any teacher or friend could want.

After the first day of school (which Hazel loved), she started coming home on the bus!  James and I were reluctant, but it's just so convenient because the stop is right on our street corner.  Luckily Hazel sits by the same Kindergarten girl everyday, and it's only about 20 minutes to and from Tibbals.

Summer's End

We tried to get in a few more fun things before summer ended.  The end of this summer was different than most because I knew Hazel would start school, and our lives would change forever!  We filled our last days with playing, soccer, swimming, and crafting.

Lots of dog piles over here...

Swimming at Shayla's awesome neighborhood beach/pool.

We finished Hazel's 1st season of indoor soccer.

We tried out the new Urban Air in Garland.

And more Palmers came to visit from Utah!  Dave, Melissa, and crew.  Aunt Melissa got some sweet cuddles from Jada!  We're hoping they're serious about moving down here!

James is 32!

James is like a fine wine (although I guess I wouldn't know...).  He acquires new skills and gets more handsome each year.  Lucky me!  If you ask the kids, they'd say their favorite thing about James is that he plays "Tickle Monster" and "Dragon" with them.  We love this birthday guy!!

His parents were kind to watch the older two so we could go eat at Mexican Sugar to celebrate.  Fun place and pretty (and tasty) food.

James also went out another time with some friends to shoot his gun he assembled.  I mean, where did that hobby come from?  He also got a grill/smoker and has started contributing to Sunday dinners!  And to top THAT off, he made me and beauuutiful, round kitchen table!!  Happy birthday to me rather...
