1) Cafe Rio (the obvious) - there's a Costa Vida 35 minutes away actually, but it's not even as good as the Costa in Utah. They just don't have the touch.
2) Kneaders - Oh, how I really want a turkey sandwich and parmesan chips. Badly. Heather knows what I mean.
3) Sensuous Sandwich - No deli sandwich will ever compare. And no place knows how to name their sandwiches like this place -- "The Enticer" "The Tantalizer" "The Super Saucy" "The Sorry Charlie" -- you get the idea. I told James I'm going to call this week and see if they'd consider expanding their locations.
4) Magleby's Fresh - Those pancakes and syrup are ridiculous.
5) Good Earth (the old one run by emo 15 y.o.'s) - I could eat a turkey-avo wrap from there daily and not get sick of it. Courtney knows what I mean on this one. Too bad they got new management and changed the menu.
It kills me. You'd think since Dallas has the most restaurants per capita in the U.S. that I'd be satisfied, but no. I haven't tried everywhere, but I'm pretty sure Dallas is all about cultural food and other expensive restaurants that I'm not willing to go to. Boo. So if anyone knows of any comparable places to the restaurants before mentioned in the north Dallas area, that'd be awesome. The Tex-mex just isn't cutting it. Sorry, Texas. It's my only complaint.

Number 1 is one of the only things that makes living in Utah "sane" for me at times. But they're expanding tons now, so there's hope for you! They just opened a few in California, so maybe Texas is coming soon . . . I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who misses places for their food. Marc and I talk about some day being able to go on a vacation where you hit every place you want to solely for the food! I think we would be like a million pounds by the end of that trip!
Went to Costa Vida tonight on our way home from Oklahoma...didn't quite hit the spot. The pork was great but the salad dressing was totally different!! Bummer.
You know I miss those Good Earth turkey-avo wraps!!! I can't believe they were number 5 on your list! Hopefully it's only because that wrap no longer exists :'(
Also, I crave that Kneaders turkey ranch sandwich all the time, it is SO hard to find a good sandwich here! What the heck?? Is it so difficult to make a decent sandwich?? I just don't think it should be.
I totally feel your pain on the whole "food" issue. NC ain't got nothin' on UT!
You took the words right out of my mouth!!!! This is SO funny that you wrote this today because earlier I was looking up what Kneaders puts on their Turkey Focaccia so I could try to duplicate it. Probably not gong to happen, but I just MISS it so much!! Let's take a food road trip!!
Ugh you shouldn't remind me how lame texas is.... I miss New York Burrito and J Dawgs and Los Hermanos and Guru's and Del Taco and Carls Jr. and Happy Sumo and Bajio and Zuppa's :( Find any cheap flights we will take a little trip over there!
Hopefully this will make you visit:
AZ has Cafe Rio and we are getting a Kneaders :)!!
You're telling me! I've been craving Cafe Rio ever since we got your Costa Vida the other night. I found a recipe online that I'm trying this week and I'll let you know if it comes somewhat close!
