Spring Break

Next to summer break, the best thing about being a teacher is Spring Break. It was perfect to have it in the middle of March this year. James was really busy with work, so I decided to go down to Beaumont to hang out with the parents. I knew it wouldn't be boring there! Mom and Dad have a go, go, go schedule; that's for sure. I could hardly keep up. After running errands and doing fun stuff with Mom, she'd come home and get straight to the cooking for the singles or whoever. I went to sit down a few times and told Mom I just couldn't keep up with her. haha I didn't even offer to help with the outside chores with Dad... needless to say, I love going home because there's always stuff going on and because I love being with my parents. They're the best. Dad always likes me to play the piano for him (not sure if he just wants an excuse for a quick nap or if he thinks if he gives me positive praise, I'll continue to develop the talent..) so I offered to play him all the songs I've been practicing for church and such. Better believe he got out the wireless mic and had me sing along loudly enough that he could hear the words. Unfortunately, I don't like listening to myself quite as much. It was fun though.

Another very fun thing we got to do was see my cousin Sabrina and her new baby, Sydney! She really is sooo adorable. I loved seeing Sabrina as a mom. I always knew she'd be so great. She just loves her girl to death. I would too... look at her.

On Thursday we went to South Pacific and enjoyed one of the classic oldies but goodies of musical theater. I hadn't seen that one in awhile, and I really like it. It was done very well. I missed having James there though in the empty seat next to me. Boo on work. So seeing South Pacific was something for Mom, and seeing the IMAX Hubble 3D the next day was something for Dad. All I know is it was all a win-win for me. I chose the right week to show up.

From there we drove to Waco for Ty's baby blessing. James was able to join us Friday night, so I was extra happy. One of the things we did with the fam was go to the Children's Museum, which was just as fun for the adults. It had lots of science stuff, a walk-on piano, and a multi-cultural dress up room. As you can see, we enjoyed that room...

And on to the main event - - Ty Marshall's blessing. What a sweet, handsome boy! I just love him. We had the blessing at Nat and Jeff's house, and it was very nice. The kids all sang, we had a couple thoughts, and Ty was perfect during the blessing. It was a special day with the family. I hope I get to see little Ty again soon!

Singing "I Am a Child of God"

Proud Dad

So cute! Look at those long fingers.

And now, back to these cute kids. I like them too. =)

You will always love going back home even though you have your own home. When we go to see my parents, I always say we are going back home. But home is in Beaumont. It never gets old. Enjoy it every moment. And, it looks like you had great fun. I definitely agree that your mom and dad are always on the go--it's what keeps them young.

Oh my gosh, those pictures from the museum are PRICELESS!!!! Awesome! Your mom should consider adding some of those to her collection if she doesn't already have them.

Love you. Love your family, and especially love how your dad got you to sing and play piano. Man, what is it with dad's wanting to get their girls to sing and play instruments? My dad is CONSTANTLY wanting his kids to perform for him. Hence, speed the band :)
