Holiday

One of my favorite quotes is by my niece Hannah. A couple months ago, she said to her mom, "I can't wait to see James and Christie at Holiday!" Imagine this in a Charlie and Lola British voice. Awesome. Anyway, we loved our long holiday break in warm, humid Beaumont, Texas. I'm pretty sure we left the house less than a handful of times, and that was in no way depressing. Who gets to play basketball, ride bikes, run away from kids shooting darts, and wear t-shirts at Christmas time? I love Texas. Here are some highlights from the trip.

Nieces and Nephews at the musical White Christmas

Crack aka "crafts" (Hannah's word choice) with Uncle James- He taught them how to make an origami Christmas tree.

Kid-ups

One of many Christmas activities--sugar cookies

These really put my other ones to shame. It helps to have several toppings, cookie cutters, and icing. Yes, my mom has a Salt Lake Temple cookie cutter.

Gingerbread cookies and house--each couple decorated a side of the house, which made quite the eclectic cookie house.

Of course, my mom has children's nativity costumes, and I had to show the pull-over donkey.

Family Nativity-new family members are always surprised at how fun it is to play dress up at Mom's house. Dane was an excellent angel, and James was a stunning king.

They all screamed, "Santa!" for the camera.

Annual matching pajamas

Santa came...

and went... but left a little surprise under the tree. Bella boo!

Hannah and Isaac hugging on the hammock. (not staged)

Cute parents and Bella

We also played lots of games at night time with Mom, Dad, Kylene, Matt, and Nat when the kids went to bed; however, Bella decided to stay up with the adults almost every night. Here she is trying to eat our marker for Imaginiff.

Aubrey in mid-popper action. She has streamer hair for the New Year. =)

Happy New Year!

Not all the family was able to stay the whole time, but luckily we had a longer break. It was wonderful! To round off the trip, we had some 2 on 2 time with the parents when they took us to Houston to the airport. We were treated to Dad's favorite, Pappadeaux, and were able to go see the amazing Body Worlds 2. It was incredible and especially fun to have Dad there to explain it all. We're so grateful for the time we were able to spend with our family, and now we just have to survive 5 more months in this icy cold winterland before we can be permanent Texans.

A couple of things. A) your dad needs to retire and move to San Clemente so everyone will follow B) I have to get a pull over donkey and C) I LOVE your family! But not enough to live in Beaumont :) plus dave cannot live more than 3 miles from the ocean. And no the gulf of mexico doesnt count. I do however want dave to see it in all of its Beaumont-ness. Where in Texas ru moving to?
